I did not reflect while binding my karmas,
As I kept sinking deeper into the intoxication of worldly illusions.
Laughing away, I kept forging these cruel shackles,
Unthinkingly, I kept performing those deeds.
Without seeing whether the fruits were bitter or sweet, I kept tasting them,
Never did I ponder over this knot that I had tied.
But it is I, and I alone, who must untie it!
Now that the time to untie it has arrived, I do nothing but weep and cry.
