અંધારે દીપ જલાવ્યા રે, એવા જ્ઞાની ગુરુ મળ્યા રે
ગુરુ તો મારા પારસમણી રે, એવી હું તો અબુધ અજ્ઞાની રે
ગુરુએ જ્ઞાન દીધું રે, એવી કાયા કંચન કીધી રે
ગુરુચરણે શિર નમાવ્યું રે, ચરણરજના આંજણ કીધા રે
એવી દૃષ્ટિ નિર્મળ કીધી રે, એવા જ્ઞાની ગુરુ મળ્યા રે
ગુરુથી ભવનું ભાન થયું રે, એવા પથમાં તેજ પ્રકાશ્યું રે
ગોવિંદ સાથે પ્રીત જોડાઈ રે, એવા જ્ઞાની ગુરુ મળ્યા રે
ગુરુના દર્શન જ્યાં કીધા રે, ત્યાં સુખદુઃખનું ભાન ભુલાયું રે
ધન્ય-ધન્ય તે ઘડી રે, જે ઘડી મળ્યા મારા ગુરુ રે
એવું સફળ જીવન મારું કીધું રે, ગુરુ તો મારા પારસમણી રે
કથીરને સોનું કીધું રે, ગુરુએ તો પોતાનાથી અધિક મને આપ્યું રે

aṁdhārē dīpa jalāvyā rē, ēvā jñānī guru malyā rē
guru tō mārā pārasamaṇī rē, ēvī huṁ tō abudha ajñānī rē
guruē jñāna dīdhuṁ rē, ēvī kāyā kaṁcana kīdhī rē
gurucaraṇē śira namāvyuṁ rē, caraṇarajanā āṁjaṇa kīdhā rē
ēvī dr̥ṣṭi nirmala kīdhī rē, ēvā jñānī guru malyā rē
guruthī bhavanuṁ bhāna thayuṁ rē, ēvā pathamāṁ tēja prakāśyuṁ rē
gōviṁda sāthē prīta jōḍāī rē, ēvā jñānī guru malyā rē
gurunā darśana jyāṁ kīdhā rē, tyāṁ sukhaduḥkhanuṁ bhāna bhulāyuṁ rē
dhanya-dhanya tē ghaḍī rē, jē ghaḍī malyā mārā guru rē
ēvuṁ saphala jīvana māruṁ kīdhuṁ rē, guru tō mārā pārasamaṇī rē
kathīranē sōnuṁ kīdhuṁ rē, guruē tō pōtānāthī adhika manē āpyuṁ rē

Lit a lamp in the darkness, such a wise Guru I have found,
The Guru is my touchstone (philosopher's stone), and I was so ignorant and foolish.
The Guru bestowed knowledge upon me, and turned this body into pure gold,
I bowed my head at the Guru's feet, and applied the dust of his feet as on my eyelids.
He made my vision so pure and clean, such a wise Guru I have found.
Through the Guru, I realized the true nature of this worldly existence, and light illuminated the path,
My love got connected with Govind (Krishna), such a wise Guru I have found.
Wherever I caught a glimpse of the Guru, the awareness of pain and pleasure was forgotten right there.
Blessed, truly blessed is that moment, the moment I met my Guru,
He made my life successful, the Guru is my touchstone.
He turned worthless metal into gold, and the Guru gave me even more than He gave himself.
