ભોરના કુમળા કિરણ સાથે, સૂર્ય બનીને આવ્યો તું
જગમાં જાગૃતિ લાવવા, કોમળ કિરણોમાં ભરી-ભરી સ્ફૂર્તિ લાવ્યો તું
અજવાળા પાથરતો, અંધકાર હઠાવતો, ગગનની ગોદમાં આવીને બેઠો રહ્યો
પાસે ને પાસે, તો સૌની સાથે ને સાથે, તો પણ ન તપ્યા તારે તાપે, તો કોઈના મન
પ્રખર અગ્નિ ભરી તે કિરણોમાં જ્યારે, ખાલી દાઝ્યા આ જગના દેહ ત્યારે
બાકી તો રહ્યા અંધકારમાં ને અંધકારમાં જ, ફરતાં રહ્યાં એમના મન
ચંદ્ર બનીને આવ્યો તું, છવાઈ ગયો ચાંદનીમાં ટમટમતા તારલા સાથે
ચમકતો રહ્યો, શીતળતાનો વરસાદ વરસાવી, જગને શાંત કરતો રહ્યો
સૌને શીતળ તું બનાવતો રહ્યો, તો પણ આ ચંચળ મન અસ્થિર રહ્યું

jagamāṁ jāgr̥ti lāvavā, kōmala kiraṇōmāṁ bharī-bharī sphūrti lāvyō tuṁ

You came as the Sun, riding upon the tender rays of dawn.
To bring awakening to the world, you brought vibrant energy, brimming within your soft rays.
Scattering light and dispelling darkness, you sat cradled in the lap of the sky.
Closer and closer, right beside everyone, yet no one's mind was warmed by your heat.
When you filled those rays with a fierce, scorching fire, only the bodies of this world were burned;
Otherwise, their minds kept wandering, remaining in absolute darkness.
Then you came as the Moon, spreading across the night sky alongside twinkling stars.
You kept shining, showering a rain of coolness, bringing peace to the world.
You kept making everyone serene, yet this restless mind remained utterly unstable.
