રહે છે સદા સૌ તો એકબીજાને જાણતા ને જાણતા
છતાં પણ જીવનમાં સૌ સૌને પારખવા તો જાય
પરખાઈ જાય ભલે એમાં, પણ તોય બીજાને પારખવા એ તો જાય
મળે મુખ તો જ્યાં, ત્યાં મીઠાશથી બોલવા જાય
પણ હૃદયની કડવાશે, ન નીકળે મુખમાંથી મીઠા વચન,
પારખું ત્યાં તો થઈ જાય
વરસાવવા જાય આંખે તો પ્રેમની ધાર
પણ ઇર્ષા વહે આંખને દ્વાર, કેમ વરસાવે પ્રેમની ધાર?
ઠગવા તો સૌ એકબીજાને જાય, પણ ઠગ, ઠગથી કેમ ઠગાય?
વગર છાપે, સૌ પોતાની છાપ પાડવા જાય
ક્યાં પડે છાપ, જ્યાં સામે હોય ગહેરો અંધકાર?
સમજી પોતાને સૂર્ય, અંધકારને દૂર એ તો કરવા જાય
પણ આગિયાના તેજે, અજવાળાં ના પથરાય

rahē chē sadā sau tō ēkabījānē jāṇatā nē jāṇatā
chatāṁ paṇa jīvanamāṁ sau saunē pārakhavā tō jāya
parakhāī jāya bhalē ēmāṁ, paṇa tōya bījānē pārakhavā ē tō jāya
malē mukha tō jyāṁ, tyāṁ mīṭhāśathī bōlavā jāya
paṇa hr̥dayanī kaḍavāśē, na nīkalē mukhamāṁthī mīṭhā vacana,
pārakhuṁ tyāṁ tō thaī jāya
varasāvavā jāya āṁkhē tō prēmanī dhāra
paṇa irṣā vahē āṁkhanē dvāra, kēma varasāvē prēmanī dhāra?
ṭhagavā tō sau ēkabījānē jāya, paṇa ṭhaga, ṭhagathī kēma ṭhagāya?
vagara chāpē, sau pōtānī chāpa pāḍavā jāya
kyāṁ paḍē chāpa, jyāṁ sāmē hōya gahērō aṁdhakāra?
samajī pōtānē sūrya, aṁdhakāranē dūra ē tō karavā jāya
paṇa āgiyānā tējē, ajavālāṁ nā patharāya

Everyone continuously lives knowing and learning about one another,
Yet in life, everyone still goes around judging and testing each other.
Even if they get exposed themselves in the process, they still continue to judge others.
Wherever faces meet, they try to speak with sweet words,
But the bitterness of the heart does not allow sweet words to come out of the mouth;
Immediately one can see right through.
They try to shower a stream of love from their eyes,
But jealousy flows at the gateway of their eyes—how then can a stream of love shower down?
Everyone sets out to deceive one another, but how can a deceiver be fooled by another deceiver?
Without any true substance or seal, everyone tries to leave a lasting impression.
Where can an impression be left, when what lies ahead is deep darkness?
Believing themselves to be the sun, they go out to dispel the darkness,
But the faint glow of a firefly can never scatter true light across the world.
